Each season comes to an end with a celebratory 5K. This closing event gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment. Crossing the finish line instills confidence through completion and is a joyful moment program participants always remember! Everyone in our program receives a commemorative medal to celebrate this incredible achievement.

The Fit Foodie Family 5K & Kids’ 1K welcomes everyone, from two-year-old walkers with a parent to the most elite 5K runners.

Bring your family to Sugar Land Town Square on Memorial Day weekend for a morning of spring fitness, community, food, and fun.

Cross the finish line of the 5K or Kids’ 1K, grab your medal, and celebrate with a post-race party featuring live entertainment, recovery services, family activities, and plenty of delicious and useful items from our vendors. You earned it.

THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE 5K….This high-energy 5K team challenge puts three-person teams head-to-head against others in timed competition where strength, wit, and teamwork matter as much as speed. Teams race in multiple competitive heats, completing 3 laps around the 1.05 mile course. At the end of every lap, teams face a physical or mental challenge that must be completed before moving on. The kid’s dash is a fun, untimed dash for our kiddos ages 10 and under. Registration includes a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and a specifically crafted medal for our kids’ dash event! (If your child wants to run the kid’s dash, and doesn’t want the SWAG, they are welcome to run with us on race day for free!)

This is our nighttime party trail run just West of Houston at Stephen F. Austin State Park! The trails are wide and mainly gravel/dirt with a few quick elevation changes but a great trail run for beginners to advanced. 

​All runners will need both a light and hydration device as mandatory equipment. The trail will be marked with reflectors and ribbons. We are a cupless race so you must carry your own bottle/flask. Follow park instructions for parking along the right side of the park road, starting at the group dining hall event area and filling back from there. 

The group dining hall is where all the action happens; packet pickup, start/finish, spectator hang-out lawn with runners personal area, and our main aid station. A second water refill will be available at halfway at the road crossing. Extra lights and costumes are encouraged! Sunset is at 7:30 PM.

We are very excited to see all of our friends back at The Pear Run! Whether you’re a runner, a sponsor or a volunteer, we’ve got a place for you.

Every Memoridal Day we meet at the Town Center Park in Kingwood to honor those who gave it all for our freedoms by completing/competing in one of two Hero Races: MURPH / LOREDO, or a Half-Marathon / 5K/10k … 10 and Under fun: Kids Mini-Salute (short mini hero race).

Southern Star 5K IS NOW MOVING TO B52 5K

Sadly, Southern Star has announced they are closing at the end of June and cannot host the event. Starts and finishes at the very cool, very hip B52 Brewing Co. One water stop at the 1.5 mile point will be manned by Toys for Tots. Walker friendly! Once you’re done running, hit the tasting area to collect your souvenir pint glass and enjoy up to four 8-oz. tastings of B52 beer!

The 2nd Annual Operation Ruck the Bayou will be hosted on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at Saint Arnold Brewery in Houston, TX. This event will support The Joshua Chamberlain Society’s Houston Chapter.
