The 2026 Boston Marathon once again proved why it’s one of the most iconic races in the world, and Houston showed up. With more than 245 runners from the Houston area toeing the start line, the city made a strong statement on one of running’s biggest stages.
Houston’s Sub-3:00 Marathon Club
One of the most impressive stats from this year’s race is the number of Houston athletes breaking the three-hour barrier. A total of 38 Houston runners finished under 3:00, highlighting the depth of talent in the local running community. Running sub-3 at Boston is no small feat.
Fastest Houston Finishers
Leading the way for Houston on the men’s side was Tyler Pritchett, who delivered a standout performance with a time of 2:24:44. His effort placed him among the top competitors from the region.
On the women’s side, Brooke Nelson set the pace, finishing in 2:52:30. Her performance not only led all Houston women but also displayed growing strength of female distance running.
Inspiring Age Range Across Houston Runners
The Houston contingent also demonstrated that marathon running spans all ages.
- The oldest Houston finisher, Que Pham, crossed the line in 5:32:10 at the age of 77.
- At the other end of the spectrum, Eliana Contreras was the youngest Houston finisher, clocking an impressive 3:17:16 at just 19 years old.
Houston’s Presence on the National Stage
From elite-level performances to inspiring personal achievements, Houston runners made their mark all across the course. Whether chasing personal bests, breaking time barriers, or simply soaking in the Boston experience, the city’s running community was well represented.
With over 245 participants, dozens of sub-3 performances, and standout finishes across all age groups, Houston continues to solidify itself as one of the strongest running hubs in the country.
