Houston’s running community can step onto the track on Saturday, September 5. It marks the inaugural Space Records Relays, an adult track meet. Space City Elite Running and Track Records is hosting the event at Wisdom High School.
The meet will feature a lineup focused on speed and short-distance competition, including 100-meters, 200-meters, 4×400-meter relay and Sprint Medley Relay (SMR). Check-in begins at 6 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. rolling start.

Unlike a typical community track workout, Space Records Relays is designed as a competitive meet with official Fully Automatic Timing (FAT). Results will be recorded using a FAT timing system, giving runners an opportunity to put real race times on the books.
The event will also feature a demo of the On Cloudboom Strike 2, along with a DJ and local vendors, creating an atmosphere that goes beyond competition.
Derwin Graham, one of the organizers of the event said the goal is to bring together different sides of Houston’s running community while creating a different kind of racing experience.
“We’re bringing the best of both worlds together to break the mold. How often do you get a dedicated track event (FAT timed at that) focused on the short sprints and high intensity relays like the SMR and the 4×400?”
Space Records Relays will take place at Wisdom High School, 6529 Beverly Hill St., Houston, TX. The event offers local runners an opportunity to race, chase fast times and experience a competitive adult track meet in Houston. Admission fee is $10 for a single event and $40 for a relay event.
For runners who enjoy speed work, relays or simply want to try something different from the traditional road race, Space Records Relays offers a new way to compete.
