Houston runners got a little taste of fall racing this weekend, although the weather didn’t exactly cooperate. Rain moved through the Houston area throughout the weekend, making for wet roads. Still, the rain didn’t keep Houston runners from showing up. From the Ainsley’s Angels Twilight 5K to the OutRun Hunger 5K and Run for Hope, runners lined up across the city and put down some fast times.
Ainsley’s Angels Twilight 5K
The Ainsley’s Angels Twilight 5K was one of the weekend’s highlights, with runners taking on the course as the day gave way to evening.
Mark Huber took the men’s 5K win in 19:28, followed by Andre Castro in 19:54 and Mak Taing in 20:54. The women’s race was led by Leslie Suarez, who finished in 21:35. Charlotte Webster took second in 23:40, while Jennifer Anthony rounded out the top three in 24:07.
The event also included a rider division. Jared Gonzalez finished first in 14:51, followed by Jackson Heckert in 19:30 and I. Duplechain in 19:55.
OutRun Hunger 5K
The OutRun Hunger 5K brought another group of runners to the starting line this weekend, with Michael Quiroga leading the men’s field. Quiroga finished in 18:16, followed by Devin Flores in 18:43 and Julian Perrin in 19:24.
Avery Rodgers led the women’s 5K in 22:08. Adeena Arain finished second in 25:08, while Lexi Aparicio took third in 26:00.
Run for Hope
The Run for Hope featured both 5K and 10K races, giving runners a chance to tackle a longer distance while navigating the wet weekend conditions. In the men’s 10K, Kevin Baker finished first in 40:55, just ahead of Jeff Horner in 41:07. Steven Dubois finished third in 42:02.
The women’s 10K was especially close at the top. Martina Vega won in 50:07, with Christine Lee just three seconds behind in 50:10. Jill Matte finished third in 50:12.
The men’s 5K was led by Addison Gault, who crossed the finish line in 17:15. Preston Baughn finished second in 18:22, followed by Callum Hevle in 18:43.
Karley Dougherty won the women’s 5K in 21:03. Lexi Searby finished second in 22:47, and Natalya Borneleit took third in 23:02.
