Even though we’re solidly in the fall season, it’s actually the perfect time to start thinking ahead to a spring half marathon. With 12–18 weeks of training ahead of you, choosing a March or April race now gives you plenty of time to build mileage, stay consistent through the holidays, and kick off the new year with a clear goal. Houston’s spring racing scene is packed with fun, festive, and fast half marathons to put on your radar. Here are a few favorites to consider for your 2025 race calendar.

Seabrook Lucky Trails (March 13 – 15)

If you love a peaceful, scenic course, the Seabrook Lucky Trail Half Marathon is a perfect pick. Runners enjoy miles of crushed-shell trails winding through the tranquil Seabrook nature preserve with views of the bay. This race is also part of a multi-day event, so you can run one day or stack races for extra challenge.
Fun fact: Finishers walk away with some of the most unique medals in the Houston area.

H‑Town Park Half Marathon (March 22)

This downtown Houston favorite kicks off at Daikin Park and winds through the city’s streets, offering a predominantly flat, paved course, perfect for first-timers or those chasing a personal best.
Tip: Since it’s downtown, car-parking and traffic can get tricky, plan your arrival and packet pickup accordingly to avoid pre-race stress.

Space City Half Marathon (April 18)

A local favorite for runners chasing a PR, the Space City Half in Clear Lake features fast roads, great volunteer support, and a welcoming community feel. It’s known for well-organized logistics and a finisher medal that space lovers obsess over.

Vintage Half Marathon (April 26)

Held in The Vintage area of northwest Houston, this race offers quiet suburban streets, a smooth course, and charming neighborhood support. It’s an ideal pick for runners who prefer smaller, more relaxed races without sacrificing quality.
Fun fact: he post-race spread often features Voodoo Doughnut, which makes crossing that finish line extra sweet.

Honorable Mention: Blue Bell Fun Run (March 21)

This one isn’t in Houston, but it’s absolutely worth the drive to Brenham. Known for its rolling hills, small-town charm, and unlimited post-race Blue Bell ice cream, it’s a bucket-list race for many Texas runners.
Fun fact: Many runners say they come back just for the ice cream.
