The HARRA Spring Series picks up right where the fall racing season leaves off. After Coach Andy’s 30K closed out the HARRA Fall Series as a final long run before the Chevron Houston Marathon, the focus shifts to spring, when runners move away from marathon training and back toward shorter races and local competition.
Organized by the Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA), the Spring Series brings together a mix of long-standing Houston races and a few formats you won’t find anywhere else. The emphasis is on consistency across the season, rewarding runners who show up and race multiple events rather than just targeting one standout performance.
The series includes the following races:
HBA Fun Run 8K
February 21, 2026
One of the oldest races in Houston, the HBA Fun Run traditionally opens the Spring Series. The downtown course and low-key atmosphere make it a popular early-season fitness check coming off winter training.
Bayou City Classic 10K
March 7, 2026
One of Houston’s longest-running races, the Bayou City Classic hits the classic 10K distance with the added option of a 5K fun run. It’s staged around City Hall and remains one of the most popular Spring Series stops.
Bellaire Trolley Run 5K
April 11, 2026
A shorter distance in the series, the Bellaire Trolley Run offers a neighborhood course that’s good for speed work and an accessible race for newcomers.
Bayou Bash Relay
Date TBD (spring 2026)
A four-person team relay at T.C. Jester Park, the Bayou Bash Relay brings a team dynamic into the Spring Series and usually wraps up the primary race schedule.
LP Run (33 1/3 Minute Run)
Date TBD (spring 2026)
Held at the Rice University track, this unusual timed event asks runners to cover as much distance as possible in 33 1/3 minutes. It’s one of the unique highlights of the series.
Together, these races form a balanced spring lineup that keeps runners engaged after marathon season. Rather than one big event, the HARRA Spring Series rewards consistency, club participation, and a range of racing skills across distances.
Whether you’re chasing series points, building spring fitness, or just looking for local race mornings with good crowds and solid post-race vibes, this sequence of events gives Houston’s running community plenty to look forward to as winter fades away.
