The 2026 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon delivered a weekend of unforgettable performances, record-setting runs, and inspiring personal achievements as more than 25,000 runners from over 50 countries laced up for race day in downtown Houston.
Among the most notable highlights:
- Houston runners shone with 2,685 finishing the marathon and 5,727 completing the half marathon, showcasing strong local participation.
- The city’s fast course lived up to its reputation as a qualifier haven: 708 men and 497 women earned Boston Marathon qualifying times.
- Elite efforts were on full display, with 10 men achieving the Olympic Trials standard (sub-2:16) and 16 women also hitting the Olympic Trials mark (sub-2:37).

Elite competitors delivered headline performances: Zouhair Talbi set a new full marathon course record of 2:05:45 to win the Chevron Marathon, and Habtom Samuel shattered the half marathon course record with 59:01. In the masters ranks, Sarah Hall finished second in the marathon and established a new masters record at 2:26:26, underlining that excellence spans all ages.
The spirit of the event was further elevated by two men over age 80 crossing the marathon finish line, testament to lifelong fitness, and 11-year-old Leo Mendoza posting an extraordinary 1:23:23 in the half marathon, potentially a world record for his age group.

As the final runners crossed the finish line and the streets slowly reopened, the lasting feeling wasn’t just about records or qualifying times, it was about what this weekend represented. Houston once again proved it’s a place where dreams of every size can coexist: where Olympians and first-timers share the same roads, where age is just a number, and where a perfect January morning can turn months of training into lifelong memories.
