Houston runners had a busy weekend of racing on March 14–15, with events taking place across the region and distances ranging from 5Ks to full marathons. From the multi-day challenge at Seabrook’s Lucky Trails to fast fields at the H-Town Half Marathon, 10K & 5K, the weekend showcased the depth and enthusiasm of the local running community. Several charity races also took place, including the Darling Dash and the 2nd Annual Midas FA 5K Race Against Childhood Obestiy.
One of the most unique events of the weekend was the Seabrook Lucky Trails race series, which takes place throughout the entire weekend and offers runners the chance to compete in multiple distances over several days. The event kicked off Friday evening with a 5K, where Parker Campbell led the men’s race in 17:54, followed by Sjur Lorentzen and Peter Bang. Diana Cousins won the women’s race in 23:20, with Mali Bowling and Tenley Bowling rounding out the top three. Saturday featured longer distances, including the marathon, where Carlos Vences Jr captured the men’s title in 3:21:41 ahead of Connor Bessell and Troy Maddox. Jessica Roeschel won the women’s marathon in 3:53:11, followed by Julie Huyett and Suzy Seeley. In Saturday’s half marathon, Daniel Minisini took the men’s win in 1:25:21, while Meagan Drouillard led the women in 1:39:11.
Racing continued Sunday at Lucky Trails with another slate of events. Andrew Cochran won the men’s 5K in 18:55 while Jatziry Solis led the women’s field in 25:42. In the quarter marathon, Tyrell Mickens took first place for the men in 44:49 and Allyson Godfrey won the women’s race in 49:12. The weekend wrapped up with the Sunday half marathon, where Matt Grandjean won the men’s race in 1:34:22 and Melissa Bittick claimed the women’s title in 1:35:32.
Elsewhere in Houston, the H-Town Half Marathon, 10K & 5K drew competitive fields and fast times. Aaron Albert led the half marathon in 1:11:49, while Jenna Robinson won the women’s race in 1:30:09. Alex Campagna topped the men’s 10K in 34:44 and Charlie Tran edged a close women’s race in 45:14. In the 5K, Christopher Wallace ran 15:59 for the win, while Virginia Wallace led the women in 18:31.
The Lucky Charm 5K also brought St. Patrick’s weekend racing to the area. Wesley McPhail won the men’s 10K in 35:04 and Lacie Bedwell took the women’s title in 42:41. In the 5K, Zachariah Wrobel ran 16:34 to win the men’s race, while Diana Rodriguez led the women in 21:42.
