If you’ve spent any time looking through Houston running calendars this month, you’ve probably had a moment of déjà vu: are there TWO Vintage half marathons? You’re not imagining things, there really are two April races with similar names: the Vintage Park Half Marathon and the Vintage Half Marathon.
First the Vintage Park Half Marathon, which takes place in the Vintage Park area in northwest Houston on Sunday, April 12. This race offers a community-driven feel, with a half marathon, half-marathon relay, 5K, and kids race. According to a Facebook post from race director Ron Stitt, the event grew out of years of experience in the local running scene.
Stitt also explained that after helping build major local race series, he stepped away when the direction no longer aligned with his vision. “We are all runners, we care about the entire athlete experience, and we LOVE to have fun when you’re done!” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the Vintage Half Marathon, organized by All Community Events, offers its own take on the vintage concept on April 26. Held in the Klein area, it’s part of the broader Run Houston! Race Series. If you’ve run a All Community Events event before, you know how it is: well organized and delivers a solid race day experience.
So what’s the difference? In short: location, organization, and personality. One is rooted in the Vintage Park community, led by a race director who is a familiar presence over the years. The other is part of a larger race series with a consistent structure across events.
What’s the same? Both races bring runners together, offer a chance to chase a PR (or just survive 13.1 miles).
No matter which Vintage Race you choose, you’re signing up for a good time. Just make sure you show up at the right start line!
