Houston Running June 6 – 7 Weekend Recap: Lemonade Dash Opens Summer Series

The first weekend of June brought a lighter race calendar, but runners still had two opportunities to lace up their shoes and race. From the opening event of the Houston Summer Series to a family-focused fundraiser supporting NICU families, the June 6-7 weekend showcased both fun competition and community.

Lemonade Dash Kicks Off the Houston Summer Series

The annual Lemonade Dash served as Race No. 1 of the Houston Summer Series. Participants ran both 10K and 5K distances, with several impressive performances winning.

In the men’s 10K, Blake Mankin claimed the overall victory in 35:09. John Neal finished second in 39:00, while Carlos Garcia rounded out the top three in 39:11.

The women’s 10K race featured a strong battle at the front, with Jenna Robinson taking first place in 40:06. Carley Flanders finished second in 41:24, followed by Brianna Trevizo in third at 41:42.

The men’s 5K was won by David Guia, who crossed the finish line in 16:46. Luke Miller earned second place in 19:04, while Caleb Lowry secured third in 19:17.

On the women’s side, Micayla Oniskey captured the 5K title with a winning time of 19:30. Rachel Sullivan finished second in 20:35, and Michelle Snell completed the podium in 21:06.

Miles for Miracles 5K Supports NICU Families

The Miles for Miracles 5K brought runners together for a cause at MacGregor Park, raising awareness and support for NICU families throughout the Houston area.

In the women’s race, Alyssa Maltby earned the overall victory in 20:43. Mariel Koh finished second in 24:29, and Hannah McDermett claimed third place with a time of 25:01.

Ezra Richards led the men’s field with a winning time of 23:24. Weijiang Tang finished just three seconds behind in 23:27, while DeMarcus Spencer placed third in 24:13.

Looking Ahead

While the first weekend of June featured only two races, Houston’s summer racing calendar is just getting started.
